Dear FUSION All Star & Parents,

We would like to take the time to extend our appreciation to all of you who are choosing the FUSION 5 All Star program. It is an honor to welcome you, and your child, to our gym. Powerhouse prides itself on providing a fun, yet disciplined, atmosphere where we embrace all cheerleaders who want to become part of our family! We have a place for everyone, where every child’s talents can be utilized.

We believe our program, instructors and coaches are the best this state has to offer! PTC has set a standard of excellence that ALL of us are committed to pursuing. We take great PRIDE in setting the standards for others to follow. Fusion has placed numerous student-athletes in collegiate programs and we will continue working to develop the “STARS” of the future.

Here at the Powerhouse Training Center we offer you an exceptionally qualified staff. In order to provide your child with the best instructors and coaches we have made a commitment to hold our staff to a higher standard, and provide more training, than other area gyms require. You will never find “high school tumblers” teaching your child. All coaches and instructors are USASF credentialed, and have trained with the “best in the industry” to continually work developing their skills and techniques. Your coaches work all year to ensure choreography is innovative, skills are progressing and routines are clean! They can teach all aspects of cheerleading so each athlete will be pushed to become their “personal best.”

We expect our All Star teams to be competitive, always PROUD they are representing FUSION 5, and our coaches work to make that happen. For that reason our owners, and qualified staff, will make the final decision on which team a cheerleader will be placed. Each team member will be expected to maintain the skills they exhibited to make their team, in addition to building new skills through-out the year. We look for athletes who are dedicated and loyal to their teammates.

Your child will be in a program designed to build self-esteem, as well as teach the importance of teamwork, dedication and to embrace the philosophy “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing WELL!” It is our goal that our athletes will learn those principles, and then through hard work, they will achieve their goals. Those principles will guide them throughout their lives.

This is a demanding program because we compete at the highest level of All Star competitions. We believe if you are spending this much time and money, you want something in return…NOT small, sub-par competitions where there is NO competition! We need all members who join, to join with the intention to COMMIT to the program. This means committing to YOUR TEAM for the duration of the All Star season. It is extremely important for everyone to understand the intensity that is needed.

Again, we thank you for choosing FUSION 5 All Stars; we look forward to a successful season and working with your child!

Cheers!
Nathy & Robin

General Rules & Policies

  • All athletes, coaches and parents are to exhibit good sportsmanship, both in and out of the gym, at all times.
  • Team members are expected to strive for excellence. You must be committed to achieving personal, and team, goals.
  • All decisions concerning team placement, routines, etc. are made by coaches and owners. Athletes and parents are expected to respect coaches and owners’ decisions.
  • No food or drinks are allowed on the floor. If you do eat or drink in the viewing area, please clean up after yourself.
  • No gum allowed on the floor.
  • SHOES ARE REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, whether it is a class or a practice!
  • Evaluations and choreography dates are closed.
  • All practices are closed the week prior to a competition, with the exception of the TINY team.
  • Coaches reserve the right to close practices any time.
  • Do not bring valuables into the gym. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • No one is allowed to make any items (clothing, accessories, etc.) with “Powerhouse Training Center, Fusion 5 All Stars, our logo or any derivative of that name without our written approval.
  • All Star cheerleading and dance are very competitive, physical and strenuous sports. Therefore all athletes are expected to be in top, physical condition. This includes flexibility, strength and endurance. We take all precautionary measures to limit injuries, which is why we reserve the right to not allow a child to participate if they are not up to the physical demands. RESPECT YOUR BODIES.
  • Cheerleaders are NOT to attempt ANY skill without proper training and permission from a coach or instructor.

Attendance

  • Attendance at all practices and competitions is mandatory, even if there has been a change in the practice or competition schedule! We cannot have productive team practices with members missing. You are letting many others down when you do not attend. Due to the nature of this sport, other athletes are unable to practice, or compete, if you are not there. Our athletes are a high priority for us…please make us a high priority for you.
  • Your contact coach must be notified when a cheerleader is going to miss practice, for any reason. Vacations should be in writing, emergencies can be phone calls. Not notifying the coach will result in an unexcused absence.
  • A team member is NOT permitted to miss a competition, except in extreme circumstances! Consequences will be dismissal from the team.
  • No absences are permitted the 2 weeks before a competition, or the athlete may be removed from the competition.
  • 3 unexcused absences may result in dismissal.
  • You are considered late if you are not on the floor, READY to practice at the “START” time. This means appropriate practice wear ON (shoes, clothing), hair up and any taping, bracing, anything else finished and ready to go! Cheerleaders should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled practice time.
  • You are expected to attend practice, to watch changes, etc., if you are injured or sick and not contagious.
  • Withholding a child from practice or competition should never be used as a form of punishment. You are punishing every member, and parent, of that team!

Communication

  • Communication is the key to any successful program. Email and our website (www.thefusionallstars.com) will be the primary source of communication. It is the parent’s responsibility to know what is going on with your child’s team. We expect you to check your emails and the website DAILY.
  • “Team Moms” are our next line of communication. Stay in touch with them.
  • Make sure you have turned in your “Membership Form.” Any changes to that information needs to be, IN WRITING, as soon as change occurs.
  • If you have a question, concern or something to discuss, please feel free to contact us by phone, email or at the gym at an appropriate time.
  • Please check the “Parent Mailboxes” and “Announcement Boards” every time you are in the gym!

Cross-overs

  • IF SELECTED to be a cross-over (more than one team of same sport…i.e. cheer-to-cheer OR dance-to-dance) you will not pay additional monthly dues, choreography or competition fees. If YOU request to be a cross-over, you will not pay additional monthly dues, but will pay the cross-over fee charged by the competition company for all competitions.
  • Cheer and Dance ARE two separate entities. If you are a cheer AND dance team member, you will not pay double dues or fees for choreography, competitions, etc. but you WILL incur additional costs (uniform, choreography, dues, competition fees, etc.). Please discuss this with Robin.

Finances

  • Tryout fee is $35.00 (+ tax).
  • Annual gym membership is $95.00/year (June 1, 2010 – May 31, 2011). *Athletes who join late will pay a pro-rated fee of $25.00 per quarter.
  • All Star dues run from June 1, 2010 – May 31, 2011. Cheerleaders who cheer for their schools are not permitted to PRACTICE with their All Star team from August through November or December. Therefore during those months your dues will be suspended, but you are required to continue your tumbling class and will pay only the monthly tumbling fee.
  • Dues are to be paid the first practice of the month. A $15.00 late fee is charged if dues have not been paid BY the 7th of the month. If dues are still unpaid by the second practice of the month, the cheerleader may not be permitted to return to practices until the account is paid.
  • Dues are to be paid even when the athlete misses practice or tumbling. If a child is injured and unable to practice or tumble, due to doctor’s orders, he/she will be placed on the “injured reserve” list. Dues are suspended until the doctor has released the athlete to resume physical activity.
  • Fees are never pro-rated for vacation, illness or holidays.
  • If you join a team in June, All Star dues are $68.00 (+ tax) monthly. Dues cover ALL practices and 4 tumbling classes per month. EXCEPTIONS: Athletes who travel 100, or more, miles (one-way) and all high school graduates’ dues will be $45.00 (+ tax) per month.
  • There is a “Family Discount” ($10.00 off total for month) when 2, or more, children (who are residing in the same house) are participating in All Stars.
  • Any athlete who joins All Stars in July or August, their monthly dues will be $72.00 (+ tax).
  • FUSION 5 is strongly opposed to accepting new All Stars after August, except in extreme cases. If that should happen, monthly dues become $75.00 (+ tax) for anyone joining in September or October, and $78.00 (+ tax) per month, if waiting until November or December to join.
  • Monthly dues pay for the “training” and instruction of an athlete.
  • A 10% discount is available for anyone wishing to pay their full year of All Star dues.
  • Our “STAR REWARDS” program will credit your account $50.00 for any new cheerleader you are responsible for bringing into our All Star program. This credit will be given after the new member has paid 2 months of dues.
  • Cheerleaders can also earn extra tumbling classes, FREE, with our “SCORE REWARDS” program. If you refer a new person, who enrolls in a tumbling class, you get to attend an additional tumbling class every week for a month (1 tumbling class is included in All Star dues).
  • Parents are responsible for paying dues, purchasing shoes, bows, make-up and any optional clothing. Fundraising monies cannot be used for any of those expenses.
  • Travel and lodging are the parents’ responsibility.
  • Any expenses for uniforms, practice pak, choreography, clinics, All Star camp and competition fees, etc. can be paid from fundraising.
  • All “AWARD” money, won at competitions, will go to the gym, except in the case of an “individual” or “stunt group” competition.
  • THERE ARE NO REFUNDS IN THE EVENT AN ATHLETE QUITS OR IS DISMISSED! You forfeit all monies.

Fundraising

  • Throughout the year we will offer numerous fundraising opportunities. We realize how expensive All Star cheerleading can be. It is our sincere hope to be able to make it affordable for any child who wants to cheer. We will plan enough fundraisers that you could meet your financial obligations. But fundraisers for your personal accounts are optional! For those who don’t want to participate, and “pay as they go,” that is perfectly fine. If you need special assistance, please contact the owners. We will make every effort to support your dedication as long as the effort is being made on your part.
  • There is one, mandatory “gym” fundraiser, per year. Everyone is required to work and participate to help with that particular fundraiser. All proceeds go directly to the gym as we raise money for additional gym equipment, or something for the gym that will benefit ALL! All other fundraisers are optional!
  • All fundraisers must be approved by the owners and made available to every member. Individuals are NOT permitted to use the POWERHOUSE or FUSION 5 name or logo, without the express permission of the owners.
  • Some fundraising is calculated as a group effort (meaning the profit is split equally among all who participated… i.e. Tag Days). Most of our fundraisers the profit is determined on an individual basis (meaning the profit is not split equally, but pro-rated according to your share…i.e. the person who sells 10 tickets receives more profit than someone who only sells 2 tickets.)

Practices & Competitions

  • Attendance is mandatory at all practices and competitions! We expect a 100% commitment to your team, as we are 100% committed to you and your child. Even if there are changes to the schedule you are expected to accommodate those changes.
  • Tryouts, choreography and All Star Camp are closed. Practices can be closed any time at owner’s or coach’s discretion. Practices are closed one week prior to any competition.
  • Teams average two practices and one tumbling class per week. Extra practices will be added, at no extra cost, as needed to be ready for competition. Likewise, when there are fewer practices during a month, there are no reductions in cost.
  • Teams will average 3-4 competitions per year. *EXCEPTIONS are the teams trying for bid to World’s (International Open cheer team and the Open Hip Hop team).
  • You are responsible for wearing the correct practice attire to practices and competitions. Cheer shoes are to be worn INSIDE only! Hair is to be up and away form face!
  • We expect our cheerleaders to arrive 10 minutes before the practice start time in order to change shoes, tape, and brace, whatever else needs done in order to actually START practice at the designated time.
  • You MUST arrive at competitions ON TIME, in uniform and competition-ready (meaning hair and make-up by the meeting time).
  • Following the team’s performance cheerleaders and dancers will remain “tastefully” dressed while representing FUSION 5. That means if you remain in uniform you are permitted to unzip the neck of your top and that is all! We will not tolerate our athletes stripping down to just sports bra, or unzipping skirts, pants, etc and basically running around in underwear. If you want to change out of your uniform, that is fine…but you must put on your team shirt and warm-up. Dress code at competitions is very important. This is where we are viewed by many other teams. We need to show up with “class” and maintain it.
  • Attending the awards ceremonies is mandatory at all competitions. Athletes are to be in full uniform for awards.
  • Proper travel attire will be discussed with each team prior to an out-of-town competition.
  • While at competitions each team will be assigned other FUSION 5 teams to watch and support. We would love to have everyone watch all teams, but at the very least you are obligated to support your assigned team.
  • Parents, friends, relatives, cheerleaders are never allowed to speak with competition officials or competition companies for ANY reason.
  • No jewelry at any time during practices or at competitions.

Code of Conduct

  • Please feel free to contact us, or talk to your coaches about anything. Just remember to do it at an appropriate time. For example, approaching a coach during practice or tumbling class or anytime your child and others can hear you, is not an appropriate time.
  • POWERHOUSE maintains a “complaint-free” lobby! It is our intention to create a low-stress and productive environment for our athletes and patrons. The lobby/parent area is NOT the place to gossip or express your concerns. We truly want to create the best experience possible for everyone, therefore, when an issue arises please contact the appropriate staff member, coach or owner to solve it. We ARE here to help you.
  • Gossip and talking about other programs, other teams, other children, coaches or staff will not be tolerated. We will treat everyone respectfully and will expect the same behavior from our parents and athletes.
  • Please exhibit good sportsmanship at all times.
  • No profanity or abusive language at any time.
  • No arguing or questioning of the coaches/owners decisions.
  • Never post negative comments on any websites, social networks, chat rooms, etc.
  • You may not post FUSION 5 music, choreography, routines, stunts, etc. on any websites.
  • No one should ever try to “yell” onto the floor or try to make any contact with a cheerleader while he/she is practicing. Leave the coaching to the CERTIFIED, TRAINED coaches. Please do NOT ask that your child do skills the coaches feel he/she is not ready to yet attempt.
  • This program prides itself on setting a high standard of behavior. Please help us continue.
